A CHARTER ORDINANCE OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF COLWICH, KANSAS, EXEMPTING THE CITY FROM CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 15-204 AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF COLWICH, KANSAS, PURSUANT TO THE POWER VESTED IN IT BY ARTICLE 12, SECTION 5, OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF KANSAS, THAT THIS CITY DOES HEREBY ELECT TO EXEMPT ITSELF FROM AND MAKE INAPPLICABLE TO THIS CITY SPECIFIC PORTIONS OF AN ACT OF THE KANSAS LEGISLATURE, K.S.A. 15-204, THAT IS NON-UNIFORM IN APPLICATION.

Section 1. The provision of K.S.A. 15-204 that states “The duties and pay of the various officers shall be regulated by ordinance” shall be amended by substituting the following:

       The duties and pay of the various officers including the municipal judge, city clerk, treasurer, chief of police, law enforcement officers and any other officers of the City, shall be determined by the Governing Body and may be set forth in the manner deemed appropriate by the Governing Body.
