CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF COLWICH, KANSAS, FROM CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 15-204 AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT, PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF, AND EMPLOYMENT OF THE CITY CLERK AND POLICE CHIEF AND THEIR TERMS OF OFFICE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF COLWICH, KANSAS
Section 1. The City of Colwich, Kansas, a mayor-council city of the third class, by the power vested in it under and by virtue of Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to and does exempt itself from, and make inapplicable to it, certain portions of K.S.A. 15-204, which applies only to mayor-council cities of the third class, and provides substitute and additional provisions for the appointment of, and/or employment of all parties and items for all positions set out in K.S.A. 15-204, and additional provisions as hereinafter provided
Section 2. The City of Colwich, Kansas, Mayor and City Council are hereby empowered to change the terms of appointment and/or employment of all parties and items set out in K.S.A. 15-204 and may provide for these parties to be employees rather than officers of the City.
Section 3. The Colwich City Council and City Mayor may provide, in their discretion, longer terms of office for the parties and items set out in K.S.A. 15-204, or provide open-ended terms for these parties and items set out in K.S.A. 15-204.
Section 4. All positions and items set out in K.S.A. 15-204 are hereby appointed for an indefinite term, and such appointments may be terminated without cause upon two-thirds majority vote of city council
